'Escape from the Wahine' Journal Story


As part of our inquiry into the Wahine tragedy, we listened to the story 'Escape from the Wahine' (from an oral history recorded by Ryan Poole and transcribed and edited by Kathy White) from the school journal.  It was a recount of the events on the day of the Wahine tragedy given by Ryan's grandfather, Graham.


Following the story we worked with a buddy, from Room 16, on a scavenger hunt to find information relating to some key words in the story...



Learning and reinforcing the understanding of key words associated with a particular event is really important. It allows individuals to communicate clearly and present information in an accurate meaningful way.
